All of Jeremiah KJV

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

2 "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Write for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you in a scroll.'"

3 "For look—days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel and Judah, says the LORD, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their ancestors, and they will possess it."

4 These are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah.

5 "For this is what the LORD says:
A cry of terror we have heard—
of dread, and no peace."

6 "Ask now, and see—
can a male give birth?
Why then do I see every warrior
with his hands on his loins like a woman in labor,
and every face turned pale?"

7 "Alas! For that day is great—
there is none like it.
It is a time of distress for Jacob,
but out of it he will be saved."

8 "On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts,
I will break his yoke from your neck
and snap your bonds,
and foreigners will no longer enslave him."

9 "They will serve the LORD their God
and David their king,
whom I will raise up for them."

10 "So do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, declares the LORD,
and do not be dismayed, Israel.
For look—I am going to save you from far away,
your offspring from the land of their captivity.
Jacob will return and be quiet and at ease,
and no one will make him afraid."

11 "For I am with you, declares the LORD, to save you.
Though I make a full end of all the nations
where I scattered you,
of you I will not make a full end.
I will discipline you with justice,
but I will by no means leave you unpunished."

12 "For this is what the LORD says:
Your wound is incurable,
your injury grievous."

13 "There is no one to plead your case,
no remedy for your sore,
no healing for you."

14 "All your lovers have forgotten you;
they do not seek you.
For I have struck you as an enemy strikes,
with the discipline of a cruel one,
because of the greatness of your guilt,
because your sins are numerous."

15 "Why do you cry out over your wound?
Your pain is incurable.
Because of the greatness of your guilt,
because your sins are numerous,
I have done these things to you."

16 "Therefore all who devour you will be devoured,
and all your adversaries—every one of them—will go into captivity.
Those who plunder you will be plundered,
and all who prey on you I will make prey."

17 "For I will restore health to you,
and your wounds I will heal, declares the LORD,
because they called you 'Outcast'—
'Zion, for whom no one cares.'"

18 "This is what the LORD says:
Look—I am going to restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob
and have compassion on his dwellings.
The city will be rebuilt on its mound,
and the palace will stand where it should."

19 "From them will come thanksgiving
and the sound of celebration.
I will multiply them—they will not be few.
I will honor them—they will not be insignificant."

20 "His children will be as in former times,
his congregation will be established before me,
and I will punish all who oppress him."

21 "His leader will be one of his own,
his ruler will come from his midst.
I will bring him near and he will approach me—
for who would otherwise risk his life to approach me?
declares the LORD."

22 "You will be my people,
and I will be your God."

23 Look—a storm of the LORD!
Wrath has gone out,
a whirling tempest.
It will burst on the head of the wicked.

24 The burning anger of the LORD will not turn back
until he has carried out and accomplished
the purposes of his heart.
In the latter days you will understand this.

Translation notes (4)
  1. Jeremiah 30:3a Both Israel and Judah are mentioned, indicating that the restoration encompasses all twelve tribes.
  2. Jeremiah 30:7a The Hebrew phrase eth tsarah means 'time of distress' or 'trouble,' and yivvashea means 'he will be saved' or 'delivered from it.'
  3. Jeremiah 30:9a The Hebrew phrase 'David their king' leaves open whether this refers to a literal descendant of David or an idealized figure.
  4. Jeremiah 30:21a The Hebrew phrase 'arav eth-libbo' means 'pledged his heart' or 'risked his life.' This indicates the ruler has priestly access, which is an unusual merging of royal and priestly roles.
