Psalm 76
The full text of Psalm 76 in the Trinity Bible Version — clear modern English, translated from the original Hebrew. Free to read.
For the music director. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.
1 God is known in Judah;
in Israel his name is great.
2 His shelter is in Salem,
and his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There he shattered the bow's flashing arrows,
shield and sword and weapons of war. Selah
4 You are radiant,
majestic from the mountains of prey.
5 The stout-hearted were plundered—
they sank into their sleep;
none of the warriors
could lift a hand.
6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
both rider and horse lay stunned.
7 You—you are to be feared!
Who can stand before you
when your anger flares?
8 From heaven you pronounced judgment;
the earth feared and fell silent
9 when God rose to judge,
to save all the humble of the earth. Selah
10 Surely human wrath will praise you;
the remnant of wrath you will bind on.
11 Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;
let all who surround him
bring gifts to the One who is feared,
12 who cuts short the spirit of rulers,
who is feared by the kings of the earth.
