All of 1 Chronicles KJV

David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds — with every leader.

Then David said to the whole assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you and if it is from the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to our remaining relatives throughout all the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their towns and pasturelands, that they may join us.

Let us bring back the ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it during the days of Saul."

The whole assembly agreed to do this, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.

So David assembled all Israel, from the Shihor of Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

David and all Israel went up to Baalah, that is, Kiriath-jearim that belongs to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim — the ark that is called by his Name.

They carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio were driving the cart.

David and all Israel were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and cymbals and trumpets.

When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled.

The anger of the LORD burned against Uzza, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. He died there before God.

David was angry because the LORD had broken out against Uzza. That place is called Perez-uzza to this day.

David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How can I bring the ark of God home to me?"

So David did not move the ark to himself, to the City of David. Instead, he diverted it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

The ark of God remained with the household of Obed-edom in his house three months, and the LORD blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that he had.
