All of Exodus KJV

The LORD said to Moses,

"Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.

These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze;

blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen; goat hair;

ram skins dyed red and fine leather; acacia wood;

olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense;

and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.

"Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.

Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you.

"Have them make an ark of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high.

Overlay it with pure gold, both inside and out, and make a gold molding around it.

Cast four gold rings for it and fasten them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two on the other.

Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.

Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it.

The poles are to remain in the rings of the ark; they are not to be removed.

Then put into the ark the covenant law, which I will give you.

"Make an atonement cover of pure gold—two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.

Make one cherub at one end and the second at the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at its two ends.

The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. They are to face each other, looking toward the cover.

Place the cover on top of the ark, and put in the ark the covenant law that I will give you.

There, above the cover between the two cherubim over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.

"Make a table of acacia wood—two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high.

Overlay it with pure gold and make a gold molding around it.

Also make a rim a handbreadth wide around it, and a gold molding around the rim.

Make four gold rings for the table and fasten them to the four corners, at its four legs.

The rings are to be close to the rim to hold the poles used to carry the table.

Make the poles of acacia wood, overlay them with gold, and use them to carry the table.

And make its plates and dishes of pure gold, along with its pitchers and bowls for pouring out drink offerings.

Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times.

"Make a lampstand of pure gold, hammered out of one piece—its base and shaft, its cups, buds, and blossoms all of one piece with it.

Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other.

Three cups shaped like almond blossoms with buds and flowers are to be on one branch, three on the next, and so on for all six branches extending from the lampstand.

On the lampstand itself there are to be four cups shaped like almond blossoms, with their buds and flowers.

One bud is to be under the first pair of branches that extend from the lampstand, a second under the next pair, and a third under the last pair—for all six branches.

The buds and branches are all to be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.

"Then make its seven lamps and set them up so that they light the space in front of it.

Its wick trimmers and trays are to be of pure gold.

A talent of pure gold is to be used for the lampstand and all these accessories.

See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

Translation notes (6)
  1. Exodus 25:5a The phrase "Fine leather" translates the Hebrew 'orot techashim, which is an uncertain term. It has traditionally been rendered as "badger skins" or "sealskins/dugong hides," and likely refers to a durable, fine-quality leather. The exact animal is unknown.
  2. Exodus 25:10a A cubit is about 45 centimeters (18 inches), so the ark was roughly 1.1 meters long, 0.7 meters wide, and 0.7 meters high.
  3. Exodus 25:16a The phrase "the covenant law" translates the Hebrew ha-edut, which means "the Testimony" and refers to the tablets of the covenant (see 31:18). The ark is accordingly called "the ark of the Testimony."
  4. Exodus 25:17a The term "Atonement cover" translates the Hebrew kapporet, which comes from a root meaning "to cover" or "to atone." It refers to the solid gold lid of the ark, traditionally called the "mercy seat" (as in the King James Version, following the Septuagint's Greek word hilasterion).
  5. Exodus 25:30a The phrase "Bread of the Presence" (lechem panim) is literally "bread of the face," referring to loaves kept perpetually before the LORD. It is traditionally called "showbread."
  6. Exodus 25:39a A talent is about 34 kilograms (75 pounds).
