Extol him, all peoples!
2 For great is his steadfast love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.

Translation notes (1)
- Psalm 117:2a The verb gavar (גָּבַר), 'to prevail' or 'be mighty', is stronger than a mere statement of size: the psalmist declares that the chesed, 'steadfast love', of the LORD has prevailed over his people like a conquering force. Paul quotes the preceding verse in Romans 15:11 as warrant for the inclusion of the nations in this praise.
