All of Revelation KJV

1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and astonishing: seven angels with the seven last plagues, for with them God's wrath is complete.

2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and standing beside the sea of glass were those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name. They held harps given by God,

3 and they sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:
"Great and marvelous are your deeds,
Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
King of the nations.

4 Who will not fear you, Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come and worship before you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed."

5 After this I looked, and the temple - the tent of witness - was opened in heaven.

6 Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests.

7 Then one of the four living creatures gave the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever.

8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.

Translation notes (6)
  1. Revelation 15:2a The tableau recalls Israel standing beside the sea after the exodus, a link made explicit when the victors sing "the song of Moses" in the next verse. Greek kitharas tou theou, literally 'harps of God', is rendered here as "harps given by God", taking the genitive as one of origin. The construction tous nikontas ek tou theriou pictures the conquerors as emerging victorious out of the conflict with the beast.
  2. Revelation 15:3a 'King of the nations' follows the earliest manuscripts; some manuscripts read 'King of the ages,' and a few read 'King of the saints.'
  3. Revelation 15:4a An echo of Jeremiah 10:7 (the Septuagint) underlies the question and the nations' worship. Greek hosios, 'holy', not hagios, is used; and dikaiomata, 'righteous decrees' (often 'statutes' in the Septuagint), is rendered here as 'your righteous acts' in light of ephanerothesan, 'have been revealed'.
  4. Revelation 15:5a The Greek has naos tes skenes tou martyriou, literally 'the temple of the tent of witness', an echo of the Septuagint designation of the wilderness tabernacle (Exodus 38:21; Numbers 9:15). The passive 'was opened' (enoige) likely reflects a divine passive, implying God as the actor.
  5. Revelation 15:6a Some manuscripts read 'stone' (lithon) instead of 'linen' (linon); 'linen' is the better-attested reading.
  6. Revelation 15:8a The scene echoes Exodus 40:34-35, where the cloud of glory filled the tabernacle and Moses could not enter, and 1 Kings 8:10-11 at the dedication of Solomon's temple; the smoke also recalls Isaiah 6:4. Greek egemisthe ho naos kapnou, 'the temple was filled with smoke', marks divine presence that bars all approach until the judgments are complete.
