Bible verses about
grief

Scripture does not rush the grieving. It gives words to sorrow, names God as near to the broken-hearted, and holds out the hope of comfort and resurrection. These King James verses are for those who mourn.

What does the Bible say about grief?

The Bible draws near to the grieving: "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart" (Psalms 34:18), and Jesus says, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). It looks ahead to a day when God "shall wipe away all tears from their eyes" (Revelation 21:4).

What Bible verse helps with grief and loss?

Many turn to Psalms 34:18, Matthew 5:4, Revelation 21:4, and 1 Thessalonians 4:13, which tells believers not to "sorrow… as others which have no hope."
