Questions, answered plainly
What does the Bible say about patience?
The Bible teaches that "the trying of your faith worketh patience" (James 1:3), and calls believers to be "patient in tribulation" (Romans 12:12). It promises that "in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" (Galatians 6:9).
Why is patience important in the Bible?
Scripture links patience to maturity and hope: tribulation "worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope" (Romans 5:3–4), and patience lets endurance finish its work so we are "perfect and entire, wanting nothing" (James 1:4).
