Bible verses about
money

Scripture speaks plainly about money — not condemning it, but warning against the love of it and pointing to a deeper treasure. It calls for contentment, generosity, and trust in God’s provision. These King James verses gather the Bible’s counsel on money and possessions.

Questions, answered plainly

What does the Bible say about money?

The Bible warns that "the love of money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:10) and that "ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Matthew 6:24). It urges contentment — "be content with such things as ye have" (Hebrews 13:5) — and lays up treasure in heaven rather than on earth (Matthew 6:19–21).

Is it a sin to be rich according to the Bible?

Scripture does not condemn wealth itself but the love of money and trust in riches: "he that trusteth in his riches shall fall" (Proverbs 11:28). It calls the rich to generosity and to keep their hearts set on God, not gain (Luke 12:15).
